Yes, in fact, that was the fist place a hydro electric dam was built. This was at Niagara Falls. While natural waterfalls work well for harnessing electricity, most of it comes from man made waterfalls. This is what dams do, they make waterfalls. The dam will stop the natural flow of the water, and force it into channels through turbines. So in a way, waterfalls are generating most of our hydro-power.
