Yes, there has been a vegetarian spider discovered in Central America that feeds on Acacia shrubs. Most of the 40,000 spiders discovered so far are only carnivorous. This, however, is the first spider discovered that actively seeks plants. It’s scientific name is Bagheera kiplingi. It uses active hunting strategies to get past the guard ants that usually protect Acacia shrubs.
In 2009, there was a rare vegetarian spider that was discovered. It is called Bagheera kiplingi and lived in Central America. Check out the article for more information.
Is it safe to assume they won’t bite humans? I can’t stand spiders!
