No. Cats are “obligated carnivores,” which means that in the wild, they cannot survive without eating meat. Meat provides vital nutrients that a cat simply cannot get from any other source. That being said, modern industrial food production means that it is possible to create cat food that is not meat derived, and still contains the nutrients a cat needs. However, there is still a debate as to whether or not that is an ethical way to treat a cat.
