Platinum group metals, used in fuel cells, are known to exist on the moon in scattered deposits, which may unfortunately mean that harvesting PGMs may not be practical until we develop an efficient method of seeking out these deposits. PGMs found on earth are known to come from asteroid impacts, which makes it likely that moderate quantities of these minerals could be found on the moon at asteroid impact sites.
