Yes, there have been designs for female urinals around for quite some time. Many of them are aimed at medical or emergency uses, for example, a plastic contraption called “Jill’s John,” offered by a company called Sporty’s Pilot Shop, which was marketed at female civilian pilots of small aircraft so they could relieve themselves during long flights on planes without bathroom facilities. There is also a movement to encourage the large-scale implementation of female urinals as standard bathroom fixtures, especially in public facilities, promoted on grounds of greater health and sanitation for women. Most of these designs involve a fixture where the woman crouches and backs onto it. This movement appears most active in the UK.
