Definitely! While using scrap lumber or other flammable waste materials can be a great way to reallocate resources, there are certain things that should never be burned, generally because they produce toxic fumes. Plastic is a great example. Plastic can contain any number of dangerous compounds that are released when the plastic is burned. Similarly, while most wood and paper products are safe, any cardboard with a waxy coating, glossy paper, pressure treated wood, painted or stained wood, and particle board all have been treated with dangerous chemicals that should not be burned.
