Are there any tigers in Africa?

Although tigers are not found organically in any part of Africa – or anywhere else besides the southern/eastern coastal area of Asia – there are currently ‘rewilding’ projects underway in South Africa, in which captive-bred tigers are taken to South Africa and taught to relearn their hunting instincts.  South Africa was handpicked as the training ground due to its wildlife experience/leadership ample land and abundant game.  So, to answer your question clearly – yes, there are tigers in Africa, but they are in captivity and will be released in Asia.
