Are there any sponges that can pick up the oil from the oil spill?

There is a material called Aerogel that is an ultra-lightweight sponge.  It is designed to absorb oil, and leave water behind.  After the oil has been absorbed by the sponge, it can be squeezed out in pure form, and used for its original purpose.  The sponge can be used in freshwater, seawater, or on a surface.  It is an ideal material to use to clean up oil spills.
