Are there any solid health effects of energy drinks?

Evidence and health reports from a number of different countries show a definite correlation between energy drink consumption and health problems in children, adolescents, and young adults.  These age demographics have shown susceptibility to caffeine overdose from over consumption of energy drinks.  Also, numerous additional health risks in young people have been linked to over consumption of energy drink, these risks include the following:

    • liver damage, kidney failure, respiratory disorders, agitation, confusion, seizures, psychotic conditions, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rhabdomyolysis, tachycardia, cardiac dysrhythmias, hypertension, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and death

Perhaps if energy drinks are consumed in a more moderate fashion, these results will not happen; however, there’s no reason that young people should be receiving high amounts of caffeine in the first place.
