There are different kinds of robots being used for environmental research and improvement. One is a robotic sensor which is placed in forests to measure pollution levels, biodiversity loss, and biogeochemical cycles. These robots show how human activity is affecting the environment and how the environment is affecting humans in return. Another environmentally oriented robot is the CSIRO censor. This has a similar task to the former, but it specifically measures levels of moisture, temperature, and light in rainforests in order to inform scientists of the best possible conditions for rainforest rehabilitation. These robots are completely solar powered and minimize their use of electricity via their ability to share information online.
