A lot of restaurants are starting to get picky with how things are thrown out. Burgerville is an example, with trash cans for compost and recyclables as well as waste… but at this point, having some waste is unavoidable. Recycalables such as paper that are contaminated with food are no longer reusable. Many restaurants and food handlers may use composting systems as a way of ridding their food scraps, but generally, one pure fruits and veggies can be thrown into these…not meats or really seasoned or processed things. Hopefully in the future, there will be more ways to recycle things that have food on them, but for now, it’s to the landfill.
