Yes. Redwood trees can grow on the east coast. Redwoods prefer a slightly acidic soil and generally have a cold tolerance of -30 degrees C. They’ll grow better on the east coast if they’re planted far enough South. (Below Washington D.C.)
I live in Northwest Pennsylvania and a neighbor has a tree he says is an eastern redwood. It does look like a redwood I guess. They have to cut it down and asked if I wanted the wood for my wood stove. Is redwood a hard or soft wood and is it suitable for a wood stove. To my knowledge most evergreen trees are not.
