Raccoons dogs can be kept in captivity at zoos, but are not often found in zoos in the Western Hemisphere. The only zoo to currently have raccoon dogs in North America is the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. These wild dog species are native to eastern Asia and have been introduced to eastern Europe, and are in more zoos near their wild habitats than in the Americas. Raccoon dogs can even be kept as pet dogs and are very adaptable to their environment, so they can be good candidates for zoo captivity.
