One year ago (March 11, 2011) Japan was struck with a very destructive natural disaster. An earthquake triggered an enormous tsunami that struck Japan with great force. During the chaos, the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex exploded and spewed radiation uncontrollably. In the aftermath more than 19,000 people died or went missing. Additionally, an estimated 370,000 houses were demolished in the cataclysm. It is not known exactly how many died specifically from the nuclear power plants explosion, but at least a few did. Several days after the tragic disaster it was confirmed that some of the workers tried to protect the power plant and lost their lives in its destruction.
