There is a company called EarthShell that makes paper plates from primarily crushed limestone, starch from potatoes and corn, water, and fiber. Although they are not strictly only made from corn, they are still completely biodegrade in compost or soil within a two-year period.
There are paper plates made from sugarcane, and plastic bags made from corn, so paper plates made from corn doesn’t seem like much of a stretch.
Trellis Earth makes plates out of corn that are completely biodegradable. They sell them in whole sale cartons to any business that is looking to lessen their impact on the environment! They are also microwave safe.
