Glaciers and snowpack on mountains around the world are receding due to global warming. Although the melting snows of Kilimanjaro are among the most famous, mountains from the Himalayas in Asia, to the Andes in South America, to many mountains in the US are all losing snow and ice due to increased temperatures. As just one example, studies have suggested global warming will affect the snowpack in the western US’s Coast Range, harming both the ski industry and the water supply in some western states.
