Protection of the Congolese gorilla’s is carried out by Virunga National Park employees.  Virunga National Park receives funding from ten different conservation organizations, with only one based in the Congo.  They are as follows:

    • European Union
    • Africa Conservation Fund
    • Congolese Wildlife Authority (ICCN)
    • World Wildlife Fund
    • Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS)
    • Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project
    • UNESCO
    • The Murry Foundation
    • Happy Hollow Zoo

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International:

    • This program gives you the option to donate, adopt and visit the Congo. You can give a monthly donation, 100% of which will go directly to the anti-poaching teams that are working in the field; a donation in Honor or in Memory of a loved one; through workplace giving programs, such as United Way and Combined Federal Appeal; by transferring stock to the Fossey Fund; or through your estate.
    • Your contributions go to the protection, conservation science, education, health and community development of the gorillas.

    African Wildlife Foundation:

    • You can make a donation, one as little as $25.00/month, to an amount as great as $2000.00/month (remember though, every dollar helps!).
    • You are able to adopt a gorilla for yourself, or as a birthday, graduation, marriage or anniversary gift for family and/or friends. As a thank you gift, you will recieve a stuffed animal, a personalized certificate of adoption, a factsheet featuring a picture of your adopted animal and a one year membership to the AWF, which includes a one year subscription of African Wildlife News.
