After the tsunami in Japan there is concern about nuclear power plants located on the coastlines. There are nuclear power plants such at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, located at Avila Beach, California, operated by Pacific Gas & Electric. Its license was issued in 1984, 28 years ago. This nuclear reactor is right on the beach and would be susceptible to a tsunami. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission conducted inspections after the tsunami in Japan to determine what steps to take inf faced with a tsunami. There are 105 operating nuclear power reactors and many are on the eastern coastline.
