Good question, Kelsey. A study has found that algae biofuel is not all it might be cracked up to be. Basically, the study found that because so much fertilizer is used to grow the algae, fertilizer which comes from petroleum bases that release nitrous oxide, the benefit of co2 sequestration is sort of wiped out by the nitrous oxide emission.
Hope this helps!
