Are there any natural sources of fluoride?

Fluoride comes from a chemical ion of the element fluorine (Medical News Today, 2011). Natural sources of fluoride are often found in our drinking water and in foods such as juice, processed cereal, infant formula, soda, and tea (Fluoride Action Network, 2011).  Fluoride is also naturally found in the soil and in the minerals fluorite and fluorapatite. Although naturally derived, fluoride can also be modified in a laboratory setting and be added to water or a variety of other chemical products (Medical News Today, 2011).
