Are there any natural occurring magnets?

    Naturally occuring magnets are called lodestones or magnetite.  The Greek discovered this type of magnet centuries ago.  Magnetite is made up of iron oxides that are black in color.  They form opaque crystals and are found in various locations including South Africa, Germany, Russia and the United States.
