Yes, there are, but their accessibility will depend on what area you live in. I know that in the New York Marathon and Half-Marathon, you can choose to run for a charity (such as the Central Park Preservation, or other environmental orginizations). By doing so, you agree to raise money beforehand for that charity, and in turn you are guarenteed free entry.
Many local road races are run for various charities. Look closely at the list of charities which each race supports. More than you might think, an environmental orginization is taking some benefits.
There are many races that support environmental-related causes, such as the MLB All-Star Charity 5k Run this past summer, which was put on by Aquafina’s new recycling iniative.
