Are there any man made substances that absorb carbon better than trees?

Not that I can think of. The process of “absorbing” carbon is chemical process that converts atmospheric carbon dioxide into other cabon based compounds such as glucose (trees and other photosynthetic plants), carbonic acid (ocean), or calcium carbonate (shells). To my knowledge, humans have not synthesized any compounds that are capable of fixing atmospheric carbon dioxide  with the efficiency or at the scale of these natural processes.

Not absorbing necessarily, but there are temporary fixes to solving the world’s carbon dioxide problem. For instance, they can pump carbon dioxide into the ground. They have started doing this with oil wells after they have removed all of the oil. Some places are required to do this, but it definitely does not solve the climate change crisis.
