Are there any lynx in the united states?

Yes, though they are limited to very northern areas. Lynx are secretive by nature, therefore rather difficult to form population estimates for. The Canadian lynx (Lynx canadensis) is found mostly in Canada and Alaska, but there are considerable populations in “Montana, Vermont, Idaho and Washington and a resident population exists in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.” Furthermore, they are rarely found in Utah, Minnesota, and the rest of New England outside of Vermont. Lastly, reintroduction efforts in Colorado have successful. Regardless, these lynx are considered threatened in the lower 48 states.
