Many organisms call Utah’s Great Salt Lake home, such as planktonic algae, and green algae. Roughly a dozen species of bacteria live in portions of the lake, as well as diatoms. Among more complex organisms, brine shrimp and flies, water boatmen and birds also live in the lake.
