Within the United States, lithium deposits aren’t as plentiful compared to other countries around the world. According to a Geological Survey of the US, there are currently 410,000 tons of lithium in the United States. While this may seem alot, it pales in comparison to other countries such as Chile, China, and Bolivia whos amount of lithium deposits run into the millions. Bolivia currently has 5.4 million tons of lithium, Chile has 3 million tons, and China has 1.1 million tons.
There is presently only one lithium producer in the US, in Nevada. The US is more than 50% dependent on imports, mostly from Chile and Argentina.
