The Efizia Tower is currently under the LEED certification process, but it was already given the “gold” standard for its pre-certification stage.  It was begun last year and is expected to be finished in 2012.

The first building to acheive LEED gold certification in Latin America was the HSBC Tower in downtown Mexico City from the Mexico Green Building Council. The bullding has implemented various techniques including energy efficiency, potable water reduction, waste water technologies, waste management and environmentally friendly recycled furniture. It also has the country’s largest green roof and a water treatment plant.
