Bottled water is regulated by two groups: the Food and Drug Administration and the International Bottled Water Association for water imported from outside the US. Bottled water in the US must comply with both. In regard to the source used, a water bottler must gain ‘source approval’, ‘source protection’ and ‘source monitoring.’ These regulations test the source and the water coming from it. They also involve maintaining the source to prevent contamination.
