Hoover dam is actually the 39th largest (in terms of energy produced) dam in the world so ther are a handful of dams that blow it out of the water. Hoover dam isn’t even the largest in the US with a 2000 MW capacity. There are five dams, including the Grand Coulee dam with 6809 MW capacity, that are larger in the US. The largest hydro electric dam in the world is the Three Gorges Dam in China, which will have a 22,500 MW capacity when completed this year.
