Refer to answer to previous question posted, “is corn meal good for your body?”:
Not a huge number of benefits.
For people who aren’t getting enough calories corn meal is an excellent source of calories (as are most grains: wheat, rice, barley, rye, sorghum etc), but most people with internet access aren’t suffering from a lack of calories. Corn meal doesn’t contain gluten a protein found in wheat products that can cause problems for people suffering from celiacs disease.
Corn meal isn’t a great source of micro-nutrients (vitamins and minerals) so it can’t substitute for eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. However, if you’re replacing sugary treats bought at the store with homemade baked goods made with cornmeal, you’re still changing your diet for the better.
Cornmeal has a good amount of fat, fiber, carbohydrates, and protein, so it can be an essential part of a balanced diet. You would only want to eat it as a side dish though, since just an ounce of it contains 3% of your daily fat needs and 7% of your daily carbohydrate needs.
