One quarter of pet products tested in a study contained lead. Many pet toys and beds are treated with bromine as a fire retardant, which can lead to hyperthyroidism. Many of these chemicals are released if left in a hot car or in the sun. They can be a danger to the pets and to children or adults playing with their pets.
