Yes, there are. One of these groups is called ECCo and they are at the Field Museum in Chicago. ECCo sends groups of scientists to monitor the biodiversity of threatened regions in South America (including plants). They work with local governments, communities, and indigenous people to catalyze successful steps to protect the social and biological life of threatened animal and plant species, ecosystems, and indigenous communities.
