McDonald’s established an Environmental Defense Waste Reduction Task Force in 1991, and has been moving towards becoming a zero-landfill operation. “Currently, 82% of McDonald’s consumer packaging is made from renewable materials, and we’re aiming for higher percentages in the future” a McDonald’s statement released, and they utilise cardboard and other recyclable materials whenever possible. They also swapped disposable packaging for reusable containers, especially in bulk storage.
