Of course, just as animals can, plants and trees can also become endangered and extinct. This may happen as a result of habitat deforestation, human encroachment, or predation and disease. For instance, the American Chestnut and American Elm Trees are bothi n danger of going nearly extinct because of over logging as well as many diseases that have killed off the remaining trees in many forests and protected woodlands.
