An April article in Greentopia lists 7 eco-friendly golf courses worldwide, including courses in Panama, Scotland, Oklahoma, Martha’s Vineyard, Cascais, Florida and Michigan. The Tennessee golf course opened this summer by Justin Timberlake is also reportedly very environmentally conscious. In addition, the Golf and Environment Initiative allows visitors to the site to locate local eco-friendly courses.

Of course!  Anything can be made greener, including golf courses.

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses recognizes and certifies various courses enrolled in their Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses around the world.  The courses enrolled in this program ensure to the Sanctuary Program’s requirements that they protect the environment, watch their consumption of natural resources and alter their ways in order to provide safe and comfortable living space for wildlife that would normally occupy the land where the course was built.

Here are a few of the top Gold Standard courses across the US:

    1. The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing: Truckee, CA
    2. Parkland Golf and Country Club: Parkland, FL
    3. Forest Dunes Golf Club: Roscommon, MI
    4. The Palisades: Charlotte, NC
    5. Washington Reservation & Golf Learning Center: Cleveland, OH
