Like anything else, solar energy does have its disadvantages. Especially given the fact that it is a relatively new technology. First of all, installing solar panels can be quite expensive. Second of all, these panels will require a lot of space, which may be quite a disadvantage for people living in areas where space is short, or expensive (such as inner cities). Pollution is also a big problem. For older solar components, pollution in the air, even clouds can get in the way of solar rays, which in turn affects the efficiency of solar panels. Another thing is, solar panels are only useful during the day. Without sunlight, they are virtually useless. Lastly, “as far as solar powered cars go – their slower speed might not appeal to everyone caught up in today’s rat race.”
