China, arguably one of the fastest developing countries in the world, has recently announced its plans to enact a more stringent climate policy at the recent UN climate change meeting in New York. However, the targets they have set for themselves for energy standards are lower than that of the EU. As they sill have a low GDP per capita, economic development is their #1 goal, although officials realize moving in the direction of sustainable development now will certainly help with long term goals.
