are there any crops that drip irrigation wouldn’t work for?

Drought-resistant plants should not be watered with drip irrigation. Drip irrigation allows water to directly reach the roots, which is beneficial for most plants. But drought-resistant plants, such as many California natives, are not meant to be planted in this environment. For plants that do not need much water, drip irrigation would be similar to planting in a lake or pond – the overabundance of water is not healthy for the roots and creates a harsh environment for the plant.
