Currently, the U.S. is the #1 producer of biofuels in the world, primarily due to the large volume of ethanol produced. In 2008, the US and Brazil were responsible for 87% of the world’s ethanol production. It is predicted that the ethanol market will continue to expand in the future, but not as rapidly as the biodiesel market.
