Are there any countries that breed rats for food?

There are very few accounts of people eating rats, much less breeding them. I have not been able to find any examples of rats being bred for consumption (but would be curious if anyone else has) but have found a few stories of them being eaten. In Thailand, they are sometimes served with hot chili, basil and lime over rice. (there is a recipe in the first link. I’m not recommending it, but it is there.)

There was also a restaurant in Richmond, B.C. that was shut down in 2007 for serving rat and calling it chicken. Apparently, it has white meat that looks just like chicken!
