Yes. In 2006, a lawsuit was filed in New York against TBM Hardwoods, a large company that provides hardwoods to furniture manufacturers and retailers. The lawsuit claims that TBM Hardwoods violated the U.S. Endangered Species Act and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna.
TBM is accused of illegally logging and importing enormous amounts of mahogany from Peru into the U.S (in 2005, 2,460 tons of mahogany was extracted from Peru by TBM). TBM of course denies any wrongdoing and claims that they had all the legal permits required to log in Peru. The case is still pending, but hopefully there will be some findings to help raise awareness about the horrors of deforestation.
