After a ravaging tornado, in 2008 Greensburg, Kansas declared that all city buildings built after that point must be LEED certified platinum.
There are quite a lot, actually. If you use the link in the citation, you can search for buildings rated as platinum by LEED. It turns up over 230 such buildings in US, and a number abroad (United Arab Emirates, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, UK, India, South Korea, and Sri Lanka). Cities that have the most platinum projects are: Atlanta with 6, Chicago with 9, New York with 7, Portland with 11, San Francisco with 5, Seattle with 5, and Washington DC with 9.
