It wouldn’t be dirty because the city has to make sure it is clean enough to drink. That doesn’t mean that it’s not hazardous to your health over time. For example, in Los Angelos, the city ordered that black plastic balls were dumped into the resovoir to absorb sunlight because sunlight was responsible for converting chemicals in the water to carcinogens. In addition, only 91 chemicals are regulated by the Safe Water Drinking Act, but over 60,000 chemicals are used in the US.
