Are there any buildings with green roofs in NYC?

Yes, there are actually quite a few green rooftops in New York City.  The biggest green roof is on top of the U.S. Postal Service building.  The roof is 2.5 acres big, and can support 200 pounds per square foot.  The Manhattan building claims that “90% of the new roof is constructed from materials used in the original non-green roof.”  The green rooftop will not only reduce contaminants in storm water runoff, but will also reduce heating and cooling costs by nearly $30,000 a year.[img_assist|nid=195301|title=Largest Green Roof in NYC|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=0|height=0]
