Due to China’s massive economic expansion over the last two decades, they are developing similar consumer habits to the United States. Also, the Chinese government is subsidizing consuming, at least in the case of the auto industry. There’s so much new money in the Chinese economy, the middle and rising classes are transforming consumer patterns in China.
For example, China, since 2009, has been selling millions of cars per month. This is partly because of a government subsidy, but also because of a huge increase in advertising which has convinced the Chinese people that everyone needs cars.
