In Texas, bats are only allowed to moved, trapped or killed if inside or on a building occupied by people. Yellow-headed, red-winged, rusty, or Brewer’s blackbirds, all grackles, cowbirds (not including cattle egret), crows, or magpies can be controlled without a permit only when “found committing or about to commit depradations on ornamental or shading trees, agricultural crops, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated in numbers and in a manner that constitutes a health hazard or other nuisance.” None of the animals listed above are on the endangered species and can only be killed or controlled if they meet the above listed requirements.
Cows in India – they are considered sacred and cannot be harmed. Also, within Balinese Hinduism, monkeys are revered in temples, and are believed to protect them from evil spirits (so obviously not hunted).
