Are there other animals that are as dependant at birth as humans?

It all depends how you define birth. Bird chicks are often very dependent on their parents for a good span of time (though no where near the 14-20+ years of modern humans). Marsupial babies are not at all prepared for the world when they are born and must live inside their mothers pouch for some time. Baby mice are blind and helpless when they are first born; this only lasts a couple of weeks but considering their life span is just about two years it is a significant portion.
