Are tape worms necessary in nature?

I could find no evidence of anything positive that tapeworms contribute to the environment, as is the case of with most parasites. In a parasitic relationship the parasite gets all the benefit from the host, though the host may feel no adverse effects. It is simply a part of nature, and often there really is no reason or benefit for an organism’s existence.
