Are fuel tankers built in a special way to keep them from catching on fire?

    Yes. The tanks that the fuel is stored in is divided up and each compartment is insulated. This is to protect the fuel from fire among other things, and to minimize the fuel lost in an emergency– if one tank is breached, the remaining isolated tanks may still hold.
