Are swordfish populations growing?

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there is currently an upward trend in North Atlantic swordfish populations, after bottoming out around 1995. Scientists estimate the current biomass of the species at around 60,000 metric tons of biomass. Furthermore, “U.S. North Atlantic swordfish population levels are high and overfishing is not currently occurring on the stock.” Seems like they’re in good shape!
